Mr. Peter M. Whitlock 47644 Forester Road RR#2 Sardis, B. C. CANADA V2R 1B1 Dear Mr. Whitlock, Ref. No. W09 I am writing to thank you for your letter of September 20, 1997, the Whitlock Family Newsletter, Sept. 1997, and the copy of File: Whitlocks of Connecticut, U.S.A. #1 (File: Whitlock.09). I am sorry for the delay, but after my husband died in May 1997, all the genealogy got put in piles, which caused considerable sorting afterwards. I am now beginning to find those little treasures. It was very nice to find the name of Elijah Barnum's wife. The Barbour file of the Danbury VR show his birth date and marriage date on one slip, with no name of his wife. The children of Elijah Barnum and Hannah Whitlock, additions and corrections: L2) Hannah Barnum b. Feb. 19, 1762, married Thomas Dibble Oct. 26. 1780, Barbour file of Danbury VR L4) Ephraim Barnum b. Oct. .M. 1766 per the Barbour file of Danbury VR, this same source shows all Ephraims: Ephraim, m. Keziah { }, May 2,1753 (L4) : Ephraim, {son of Elijah} b. Oct, .M. 1766 (14 not the 17) Ephraim, Sr. died Aug. { },1775. (Father of Elijah, b. 10JUN1710, Danbury) Ephraim, m.2nd w. Rachel Beebe, Feb. 1 1776 Ephraim Jr. m. Sarah Seely, Nov. 11, 17~0 (prob. son of Ephraim, Sr.) L5) Elijah Barnum b. 9MAR17~d. 1FEB1769, Barbour File of Danbury VR. (something wrong with this one!) (The death date of Elijah 1FEB1769, is the same as the birth date of Huldah (L6) ) L11) 1mrnl Barnum b. Aug 25, 1789. (not Iwassa) Barbour File of Danbury VR. John Whitlock (J1) is the son of David Whitlock b. 1681 (11). So the Whitlock line would be John (G1), David (H1), David (11),John (J1), Hannah (K3). (If that is in e7 My line is: Hannah Whitlock, 1743Abel Barnum, 1764 -1851

please advise.)

The variances on the children of Elijah Barnum and Hannah (Whitlock) from the Barbour files, were taken from each town's records, recorded by hand, and then typed on individual slips of paper for each event. The material was also used to produce records on long pages for each individual town. These are on black pages with white letters, and I have found them easier to use when trying to figure out family structure. They are available at the Connecticut State Library, in their Genealogy Section, and each of the Towns in Connecticut is supposed to have a copy of the same. I have not checked the original records in the Town of Danbury. I don't know if lola Ebendorf, of Brush, Colorado, enclosed a copy of my original query, when she sent my name to you. In case that she did not, the information from Elijah Barnum's will, dated 11MAR1806, probated 16SEP1809, mention his wife, Hannah, daughters; Hannah, wife of Thomas Dibbel (Dibble), Mary, wife of A. Judd, Irena wife of Ebenezer Benedict and sons: Abel, Ephraim, and Eli. To date I have not checked for a death date for Hannah (Whitlock), should I find one I will forward that to you. Hannah' death is not listed in the Barbour File for Danbury CT VR. If the Whitlock generations on the previous page are correct for the ancestors of Hannah Whitlock, did G 1) John Whitlock come directly to CT or was he perhaps in MA or another state first? What I would like to know is who was the first to come to the USA, and from where, and parents and their ancestors, if available. Thank you for the wealth of information fashion.

that you sent.

I do apologize for not answering your letter in a more timely

Sincerely,
