SPORTS ETHICS/DISCIPLINE POLICY The NWMCAA program stresses learning lessons of value far beyond playing football and cheerleading, such as self-discipline, teamwork, concentration, friendship, leadership, and good sportsmanship. With such goals in mind, and by providing an opportunity to participate in an organized, supervised environment with emphasis on athletics and academics, NWMCAA offers young boys and girls a unique experience. The following guidelines define ethical standards for all involved in the NWMCAA program: PARENTS/LEGAL GUARDIANS 1. Coaches are responsible for the behavior and performance of the kids on their team. Parents shall not interfere, argue with, or otherwise be critical to the board or coaching staff in any public place. 2. Parents should be a positive and supportive influence on their children in the program. 3. Coaches and parents must constantly keep in mind the ages of these kids and remember this is not high school, college, or professional football/cheerleading. Boys and girls in this program must be encouraged to do their best whatever level of performance that is. Association officials, coaches, volunteers, or parents who jeer, taunt, make verbal threats, use profanity, or otherwise belittle our boys and girls shall be terminated from participation in this program. 4. Association officials, coaches, volunteers, or parents who jeer, taunt, make verbal threats, or use profanity towards league officials, referees, or their counterparts from other associations and teams shall be terminated from participation in this program. 5. These rules apply to any and all functions held by or attended by NWMCAA, or their teams. 6. Your child’s coach will be giving out his/her teams discipline forms. These must be signed by both the player and parents and returned before the first day of practice. 7. Parents will not drop off their child(ren) at practice or a game and leave without having prior arrangements with another parent to be responsible for that child. The coaches and board members will not be expected to be babysitters. 8. There will be no drugs, alcohol, or weapons at any functions. If you are caught with any of these, the law will be notified. You will no longer be allowed at any future functions. 9. Practice locations are for players and their families. If you must bring a guest or siblings, you are responsible for their well-being and their actions. You are needed to help keep those away that have no business on the premises. 10. No entertainment items such as but not limited to: skates, 4 wheelers, scooters. There are too many people, cars, and possibilities of damaging something to have these things at practice. PLAYER/CHEERLEADER: The NWMCAA wants boys and girls to learn not only the fundamentals of football or cheerleading, but also the importance of education for the development of sound mind, body and character. As a young person participating in this program, I promise: 1. To do my best in school and make every effort to maintain the highest grades I am capable of achieving. I understand that if I do not keep up my grades I will lose the privilege of participating in this program. 2. To do my best on the field, be a good sport, and concentrate on teamwork, friendship, leadership, and good sportsmanship.
