DISCOVER your Encore Career In the Climate Fellows Program

Frank Di Massa Uses His Unique Skills For Good

Frank Di Massa has extensive experience in the energy industry with Pacific Gas & Electric, the City of San Francisco and

DOE Pacific Northwest National Lab. After 30 years, he wanted a second career in which he could apply his knowledge for social purpose. Frank discovered Encore Fellows. In his Fellowship role with Strategic Energy Innovations, Frank trained and mentored two AmeriCorps volunteers on commercial building system principles and

utility bill monitoring and analysis to help seven local governments save money in their municipal operations. Frank’s expertise in energy management was instrumental in helping the government partners save energy and money, and launch careers in energy management for two young adults.

Be a Part of the Solution The Encore Fellows program utilizes seasoned private-sector professionals entering retirement who want to apply their business expertise to social purpose organizations. Each Fellow participates in paid, time-limited (typically half time for one year), high-impact work directly with nonprofit organizations or public agencies. The Encore Climate Fellows Program in Puget Sound is specific for those Encore Fellows who want to help communities become more resilient to address the impacts of climate change.

Encore Climate Fellows provides a three-way benefit for communities in Puget Sound:

Rationale for Climate Fellows • Communities are seeking ways to respond to a changing climate. • Nonprofits and governments are struggling to respond due to budget and staffing constraints and lack of technical knowledge. • The Governors of California, Oregon and Washington, and the Premier of British Columbia signed the Pacific Coast Action Plan on Climate and Energy that commits their governments to a far reaching alignment to combat climate change and promote clean energy. • Encore Climate Fellows is a unique platform that connects communities responding to climate challenges with people eager to access this field.
