A very attractive group exhibition curated by White Columns director Matthew Higgs, at Anton Kern gallery in New York, probes what Higgs is calling “displayism”: assemblage art that knowingly seeks to seduce the eye—as with store windows, advertising and Tinder profiles—with calculated surface presentation. Would you swipe right? “Displayed” is on view through August 22 at New York’s Anton Kern Gallery, 532 W. 20th Street.
