Dedication For my amazing brother, Paul Curtis Johnson October 25, 1944 - March 22, 2013 who never let an Opportunity for Adventure pass him by.

The story so far: For a whole year, Dizzy, the elf, has been listening to his best friend, Tizzy, tell about his Amazing Adventure. (Which those who have read Tizzy, the Christmas Shelf Elf and Blizzy, the Worrywart Elf know all about.) The problem is that now Dizzy wants to have an adventure, too! He decides to stow away on Santa’s sleigh. At first, however, his adventure doesn’t turn out to be quite as wonderful as what he had hoped for.

At first, Dizzy felt quite as high as a kite As the sleigh soared aloft in the star-spangled night. But then, as the air became more and more chilly, The elf’s Big Adventure felt less and less thrilly. For when Dizzy finally gathered his nerves (Not easy to do with the swoops and the swerves) And looked at the lights twinkling far down below He felt—well—quite dizzy, with vile vertigo. So when Santa murmured, “We’ve reached cruising speed!” It seemed to poor Dizzy they’d reached bruising speed. For he had no seat, let alone a seatbelt; So each bump in the air, his posterior felt. They went up and down, stopped at many a dwelling And poor Dizzy’s bruises were rapidly swelling. Each time Santa reached in his pack for the toys And other gifts brought for that home’s girls or boys, Dizzy scrunched even further, to not be detected, But it didn’t seem as if Santa suspected! Upon every roof, the deer took a quick snooze: They had miles to go, so had no time to lose. While the wishes and dreams of the children below Would power up the sleigh—make it ready to go.

After millions of stops, S.C. started to yawn. “Since I have to make many visits by dawn, I’d like to put this new device to the test So I can lie back for a bit of a rest.” The elf peeked to see just what Santa had mentioned And there in his hands was an unknown invention— A box with red lights and a GPS screen Where a sleigh and its reindeer could clearly be seen. “This gizmo is tricky, I haven’t a clue! The settings defeat me, the blinking lights, too. In order to program these Virtual Reins I surely need one of those younger-type brains.” Dizzy itched to help Santa, for he knew how to make Electronic toys, they were his “piece of cake”. But how could he help without giving away That he’d been so naughty and he’d stowed away? Thus Dizzy stayed hidden as they made each stop So S.C. would not see him on any rooftop. For it took but a moment for Santa to slide Down through every chimney to someplace inside, To leave all the presents for children and then Come popping right up through the chimney again.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Deedy recording the Santa’s Izzy Elves audiobooks at Rocking Horse Studio Dorothea Jensen, called Deedy by her elves, lives in a small town in New Hampshire. She is the author of The Riddle of Penncroft Farm, an awardwinning novel for young readers about the American Revolution. Named as an International Reading Association’s Teachers’ Choice Selection soon after publication, this novel is read in schools throughout the United States. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt will be publishing an e-book edition of The Riddle of Penncroft Farm soon. About the Izzy Elves Series Dorothea has written three story poems about the Izzy Elves. (Five more are in the works.) Tizzy, the Christmas Shelf Elf is the first of the Santa’s Izzy Elves stories. In it, naughty Owen and Alex sneak downstairs early on Christmas morning before their parents are up and open one of their big presents from Santa. To their astonishment, they find Tizzy, one of Santa's elves, has been packed inside by mistake. Tizzy, desperate to get back to the North Pole, points out that Santa's sleigh is powered by the imaginations of children, and asks the two boys to use the power of their own imaginations to send him home. But how? In the second Santa’s Izzy Elves story, Blizzy, the Worrywart Elf, Tizzy's "favorite lass", Blizzy, is the only elf who notices that Tizzy is missing on Christmas morning. When she starts questioning all her friends about when they saw him last, and where Tizzy could possibly be, however, they

think she is just being a "worrywart". What Blizzy REALLY is, however, is very, very clever, and she alone figures out the mystery! Dizzy, the Stowaway Elf, the third story in the Izzy Elves series, tells what happens when Dizzy (Tizzy’s best friend) eager to have an adventure of his own, sneaks aboard Santa’s sleigh on Christmas Eve. He literally drops into the bedroom of two little boys, Drake and Stuart, and the three of them share a wild joy ride that might be even more of an adventure than Dizzy was hoping for! The author has recorded audiobooks of these stories, that are for sale at Amazon.com, Audible.com, and iTunes.
