From the Starry - Cream (A), cut: • (2) 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut strip into (1) 4 ½” square and (16) 2 ½” x 4 ½” strips. • (2) 2 ½” x WOF strips. Sewing Instructions 1. Place (1) 2 ½” Fabric E square on the left side of (1) 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric A strip, right sides together (Fig. 1). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 1). Flip open the triangle formed and press (Fig. 2). Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance.
From the Houndstooth - Gold (C), cut: • (1) 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut strip into (4) 4 ½” x 8 ½” strips. • (1) 4 ½” x WOF strip. Sub-cut strip into (4) 4 ½” squares. • (1) 2 ½” x WOF strip. Repeat Step 5 using (4) 1 ¾” Fabric A square, (4) BAB units, and (1) 3” Fabric B square together to make (1) B Star Block (Fig. 6). Repeat to make (5) B Star Blocks total. 7. Repeat Step 5 (5) F Star Blocks, (5) G-Blocks and (5) E-Blocks total.

10. Sew (4) 2 ½” Fabric B squares, (4) ABA units and (1) 4 ½” Fabric A square together to make the center square.

11. Sew (1) BCB unit to each side of the center square. Sew (1) 4 ½” Fabric C square to each end of (1) BCB unit. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric C square to make the center block (Fig. 9).

Quilt Top Assembly (Refer to Quilt Photo while assembling.) 6. Sew (4) DED units together, end to end, to make (1) strip. Repeat to make (4) strips total. Sew (1) strip to each side of the center block. Sew (1) 2 ½” Fabric E square to each end of (1) DED strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the center block. 7. Sew (1) E-Block, (1) G-Block, (1) F-Block and (1) B-Block together to make (1) strip. Repeat to make a second strip (note the placement of the blocks differ). Sew (1) strip to each side of the center block. Sew (2) B-Blocks, (2) F-Blocks, (1) G-Block and (1) E-Block together to make (1) strip. Sew this strip to the top of the center block. 8. Sew (2) E-Blocks, (2) G-Blocks, (1) F-Block and (1) B-Block together to make (1) strip. Sew this strip to the bottom of the center block to make the quilt top. 9. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 30 ½” Fabric D strip to each side of the quilt top. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 32 ½” Fabric D strip to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top. 10. Sew (2) Block Twos and (2) Block Ones together, alternating them, to make (1) strip. Repeat to make a second strip. Sew (1) strip to each side of the quilt top. (Note: The 2nd strip is turned 180 degrees.) 11. Sew (2) Corner Blocks, (2) Block Ones and (2) Block Twos together to make (1) strip. Repeat to make a second strip. (Note: Blocks One and Two are switched in the second strip). Sew the strips to the top and to the bottom of the quilt top. 12. Layer and quilt as desired. 13. Sew the (5) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric D strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press. 14. Bind as desired.
