Domestic Elite Team Protocol NRC/NCC Team Composition All teams vying for NRC/NCC Team Rankings are subject to the following:
Teams may register up to 25 riders UCI teams may register additional “domestic” riders in addition to their UCI roster riders up to the maximum of 25 combined (these riders can be amateur, but must wear the same jersey and will be counted toward the 8 or 6-rider maximum) The riders must be officially enrolled on the official NRC/NCC team application form attached Initial registration of NRC/NCC teams will end on February 15th, 2013 All riders registered must have the appropriate racing category (pro/1 for men, 1-2 for women)
Age Restrictions of Riders:
For UCI men’s and women’s teams, the UCI-registered riders are subject to UCI rules on age (i.e. the majority of the riders must be under 28). For riders on domestic elite teams or who are domestic riders added onto UCI continental or women’s teams, there is no age restriction.
Nationality of Riders:
For UCI Continental teams registered through USA Cycling, 60% of the riders must be USA citizens with USA UCI codes. For UCI women’s teams, a plurality of the riders must be USA citizens with USA UCI codes (i.e. USA must be the most represented single nation among the team). For domestic elite teams or domestic riders added onto the UCI rosters, 80% of the riders for men’s teams and 50% of riders for women’s teams must be USA citizens with USA UCI codes.
National Championships For 2013, Domestic Elite Teams will be afforded privileges at National Championships, not given to other teams. For men, teams will be allowed to have follow cars at Amateur Road Championships. For women, teams will be allowed entry into the Professional Road Championships, as well as having follow cars in those events. Team Scoring for NRC/NCC Events
The top three riders in each team at each event score points for their teams The points the top three riders earn from the individual NRC/NCC points table from each event are added together to give the team total
Who can score points?
Only riders duly registered as part of the team can score team points.
Domestic Elite Team Protocol
Guest riders are allowed to ride for your team at an event, subject to having a release from their real team, BUT they do not score any team points. They may score individual NRC/NCC points. If a guest rider happens to be in the top three of your team, then your next placed rider who is on the team roster will be counted toward team points.
What type of team can score team points? There are three types of teams that can score team points in NRC/NCC races:
UCI road teams that are registered through USA Cycling UCI road teams that are registered in other countries USA Cycling Domestic Elite Teams
Note that, per UCI rules, UCI ProTeams and UCI Pro Continental Teams registered with USA Cycling are allowed to race the NCC criteriums that have been added to the UCI criterium calendar. For details on this please see UCI rules, Part 2 chapter 7. All of these teams must register with USA Cycling, pay the required fee if applicable, and declare their rosters of riders that will be competing for the NRC/NCC points. In the case of UCI teams registered through USA Cycling, there is no additional fee for registering as their NRC team fee is included in their registration with USA Cycling as a UCI team. In all other cases, the registration fee is $250 (this includes foreign UCI Continental teams and Domestic Elite Teams). Please note: this $250 fee does not include the USA Cycling registered/affiliated club team fee. Registering your Team For 2013, we’ll have open registration for all teams looking to participate in the Domestic Elite Team program. This means you can register your team at any time during the season. The lone caveat to that is any points that your team might have accrued before your registration was processed will not be awarded to your team.
