2010 XC Highlights • WOMEN’S WEST COAST CONFERENCE TITLE • HIGHEST NCAA WEST REGION FINISH FOR MEN’S & WOMEN’S TEAMS

CROSS COUNTRY

• HELEN LEHMAN-WINTERS: MEN’S & WOMEN’S COACH OF THE YEAR •FRESHMEN OF THE YEAR: JOSE MADERA & JANA STOLTING •SEVEN FIRST TEAM ALL-WCC PERFORMERS: JOSE MADERA, GANBILEG BOR, JEREMY GRACE, JANA STOLTING, EVA KRCHOVA, SOPHIE CURL, MAOR TIYOURI Back-to-Back Titles USF’s women’s cross country team won its second consecutive West Coast Conference in dominating fashion. The Dons bested second-place Portland by 33 points en route to turning in the lowest team score in school history with a combined 38 points. Also for the second consecutive year, four USF runners finished in the top 10 with the fifth scoring runner finishing 12th. NCAA Bests The women’s team turned in its highest finish in program history at the NCAA West Regionals by finishing seventh out of 31 teams. Freshman Jana Stolting’s 15thplace finish was the best in school history with the Tallahassee native missing an atlarge bid to the NCAA Championships by a mere two seconds. Stolting, along with teammate Eva Krchova who finished 24th, became the first All-West Region performers in USF cross country history. USF’s men’s team finished a program-best 13th. Upset Bid The USF men’s team came heartbreakingly close to pulling off a major upset at the West Coast Conference Championships. San Francisco finished just seven points behind then-No. 15 Portland, making it the closest race in the history of the league. Three Dons finished in the top 10 and all five of the team’s scoring runners crossed the line within the top 15. USF’s team score of 43 points was the lowest in school history by 20 points. 6 • 2011 CROSS COUNTRY ALMANAC

In the Rankings San Francisco’s women’s cross country team became nationally ranked for the first time in program history. The Dons appeared at No. 26 in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association national poll on Oct. 19.

First Team All-WCC Seven USF cross country runners earned first-team All-WCC honors after top 10 finishes at the conference championship: Jana Stolting (4th), Eva Krchova (6th), Sophie Curl (7th), Maor Tiyouri (9th), Jose Madera (2nd), Ganbileg Bor (3rd) and Jeremy Grace (9th). Three other runners earned honorable mention All-WCC honors: Chloe Treleven (12th), Steven Garboden (14th) and Will Marquardt (15th). Madera finished two seconds behind the men’s individual champion. Better than the Rest For the second consecutive season, USF coach Helen Lehman-Winters was named the WCC Women’s Coach of the Year. She was also named the WCC Men’s Co-Coach of the Year. It was her third coach of the year honor for the women’s team and second for the men’s team. Top Newcomers USF swept the WCC Freshman of Year awards with Jana Stolting and Jose Madera claiming the honors after stellar first seasons in collegiate cross country. Runner of the Month Freshman Jose Madera was named the West Coast Conference’s Co-Runner of Month in both September and October after a stellar fall season. Madera was just the third USF runner to claim the honor and was the first to do so since 2004.
