Downsize Your Enthusiasm Whenever Susie Essman is in Los Angeles working on an episode of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” the HBO comedy series, she stays in a hotel. “I never wanted to give in to the L.A. thing,” said Ms. Essman, who plays Susie Greene, the shrill husbandbashing character who has yet to meet a curse word she doesn’t like. But when Ms. Essman is in New York, she’s either a soccer mom in suburban Albany or an Upper West Sider “taking care of what I have to do and seeing my friends.” Now, although she still spends about three days a week in the city, she has decided to sell the two-bedroom two-bath apartment at the Straus Park Condominium that she and her husband, Jimmy Harder, an upstate commercial real estate broker, have used as their city base. Ms. Essman said that six years ago when she met Mr. Harder, who has four children from a previous marriage, she lived in a one-bedroom apartment. “They were constantly coming into the city and there was one bathroom for six of us, it was nuts,” she said. “So we decided to buy a bigger place.” But the children are 16, 19, 20 and 22, and one stepdaughter has her own apartment in Midtown. “Now when they come into the city,” Ms. Essman said, “they want to stay with her, so it’s time to downsize.” The 1,200-square-foot apartment, at Broadway and 107th Street, has floor-to-ceiling windows with open city views. Ms. Essman’s broker, Gerry Kendrick of Prudential Douglas Elliman, has put it on the market for $1.445 million.
