SWA provided landscape architectural services for downtown Burj Khalifa, an area surrounding the Burj Khalifa Tower, the tallest man-made structure in the world. The area includes Burj Khalifa Tower Park and Emaar Boulevard, a 3.5-km-long boulevard lined with luxury shops and cafes. The landscape design of this mixed-use tower includes three areas that correspond to the tower’s hotel, residential, and office spaces. A landscaped drop-off area is designed for each of the three sections of the building. Gardens and a grand water terrace with a lake and additional water features are designed to draw people to outside activities and accompanying retail and restaurant spaces. The design for this boulevard creates one of the world’s great streets, including a palm-lined greenway for shade, dynamic water features, and varied settings for public gatherings and celebrations.
