Hon. Cheryl Long Joins McCammon Group
The Honorable Cheryl M. Long, retired Judge of the Superior Court of DC, has joined The McCammon Group, a leading provider of mediation, arbitration, private judging, and special master services in the midAtlantic region. Judge Long served more than twenty years on the bench of the Superior Court of DC. Her experience spanned all five divisions of the Court, including tenures as Presiding Judge in both the Probate Division and the Tax Division. This distinctive record established her as an experienced professional on a broad range of topics, including commercial real estate, legal and medical malpractice, fiduciary malfeasance, and complex divorce and custody disputes, among others. Prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Long was a career litigator in the local and federal courts. This included experience as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, Civil Division.

Kenneth Standard Presented with Hon. George Bundy Smith Pioneer Award Kenneth G. Standard, a partner at Epstein, Becker & Green, is being recognized with the George Bundy Smith Pioneer Award by the New York State Bar Association’s Commercial and Federal Litigation Section on Monday, March 18, 2013, at its annual Smooth Moves program, which will take place at Lincoln Center’s Stanley Kaplan Penthouse. The award will be presented by the Honorable George Bundy Smith, retired justice of the New York Court of Appeals, whose efforts to advance the cause of civil rights ranged from his experiences as a Freedom Rider, to drafting appellate briefs in the successful effort to gain admission for James Meredith to the University of Mississippi, to years of distinction on the bench. Congratulations Ken!
Emilie Ninan Participates in Trade Mission to India with Governor Jack Markell Emilie R. Ninan, Managing Partner of Ballard Spahr’s Wilmington, DE office and an attorney noted for her work on public finance projects, was part of a delegation from Delaware that traveled to India earlier this month on a trade mission led by Governor Jack Markell. The group also included Delaware Secretary of Transportation Shailen Bhatt and University of Delaware President Patrick Harker. The trade mission focused on cultivating relationships with key executives in India’s IT and biotech industries. The delegation’s itinerary included a meeting with Wipro General Counsel and former NASABA President Inderpreet Sawhney, and attending the annual Leadership Forum of the National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), India’s premier IT industry association.

Bell, April 18, 2013 in Baltimore Chief Judge Bell, Maryland Court of Appeals, will be honored on the occasion of his retirement at a gala (Thursday, April 18 at the Baltimore Hilton) and a legal symposium (Friday, April 19). The first African American to head the Maryland Judiciary, Chief Judge Bell is also one of very few jurists in the history of the state to serve on all four levels of Maryland's courts.
