Keynote – Instant Payments in the Netherlands Ballroom C In May 2015 the Dutch Payments Association publicly announced the Dutch banks’ ambition to make instant payments possible in the Netherlands by May 2019. This initiative has resulted in the creation of a new infrastructure that will be designed to support all payment products both single and batch payments, irrespective of their channels between all parties. The infrastructure is intended to be compliant with Instant Credit Transfers and feature additional elements regarding speed, value limits and include an ability to support instant payments. Less than one year before implementation Mr. Boudweijn will provide an update on the initiative and how he envisions this change will impact the global payment landscape. International Air Transport Association: Innovating to Increase Payment Flexibility Ballroom C Mr. Rodriguez will discuss the innovative payment developments that are becoming a reality with the implementation of IATA’s New Generation of IATA Settlement Systems (NewGen ISS). Last year, IATA’s systems securely settled some $236 billion in ticket sales sold via travel agents. NewGen ISS is delivering faster, safer and more cost effective and relevant financial settlement services and solutions to airlines and travel agents. It also provides additional possibilities to facilitate payments in the near future leveraging on blockchain technology and PSD2 regulations. The Future of the RT1 Infrastructure Ballroom C In this session, Katja Heyder will give an overview on EBA CLEARING’s pan-European real-time payment platform RT1, which went live in November 2017 and processes SEPA Instant Credit transfers. RT1 extends reach to close to 600 payment service providers from over 10 EU countries. Ms Heyder will take a look back at the project delivery and give an outlook on the evolution of European instant payments. Speaker: Katja Heyder, Regional Representative, EBA Clearing

What Will the AFP Fraud Study Results Mean to Payments? Ballroom C The U.S. based Association for Financial Professionals recently released their Payments Fraud and Control Survey. 78 percent of survey participants reported their organizations were exposed to either attempted or actual payments fraud in 2017. This represents a 4 percentage point increase from 2016 and a troubling new record high. The Future of Payments Within an Interconnected Smart City Global Infrastructure Ballroom C What will an interconnected smart city entail and what kind of infrastructure is needed to power payment rails as well as movement of data? Ms. DePierro examines these questions while considering potential obstacles surrounding determination of the “chicken or the egg” bottleneck of whether to prioritize the transfer of data or the payment itself. The panel will also discuss how the infrastructure would be funded for both development and maintenance as well as potential security issues.
