To repeat its successful 1H16 strategies in 2H16 In light of the impressive results amidst the unfavorable spending environment, MC will duplicate its successful 1H16 strategies in 2H16. Its weekly promotional campaigns with efficient sales channel management should continue to be effective tools to strengthen its SSSG. The company will also focus on the development of new core products, particularly top wear, to provide customers a greater variety of choices. MC also plans to add 40 new points of sales in 2H16, focusing on the destinations of Chinese tourists, in a bid to create brand awareness. We expect these strategies to help MC achieve its 15% sales growth target this year.

BUY with 2017E TP of Bt17.10 MC’s active strategies in terms of weekly promotional campaigns will be a key driver for earnings growth this year. We estimate that MC will enjoy a CAGR for EPS growth of 11% over the next three years. With its relatively cheap valuation compared to peers as well as its attractive yield, we maintain a BUY rating. We also roll over our target price to 2017E at Bt17.10 (based on average PER of 15.5x).

Immaterial earnings forecast adjustment A creative marketing campaign through its freestanding shops will help MC to boost sales during its low season in 3Q16. MC’s core performance remains on track. We have revised up our forecast on the share of profit from the JV following its better‐than‐expected performance in 1H16. This, however, was offset by slower‐than‐expected improvement in TDC’s results, leaving our 2016E‐2018E earnings forecasts negligibly changed (as shown in table 1). Focusing on organic growth MC admitted that no M&A deal will be finalized this year. Its inorganic growth will come in the form of a joint venture focusing on product development, i.e., adding value through innovation in the apparel line or new product lines such as body care. Regarding its long‐term organic growth strategies, MC targets to improve efficiency in all aspects, mainly in terms of product and channel management. New channels such as online platforms and direct sales via catalogs will also be introduced to increase brand awareness and ultimately gain more market share.
