Driver Education Class Summer 2017
Colcord High School will be offering, to eligible students—Driver Education Training beginning on Wednesday, May 24th. (Classes Begin) To be eligible, as student must be 15 years of age by June 1st of 2017. All students can apply—we will accept the first 60 applications. Cost for the class will be $150.00 for each student, to be paid in full (cash or money orders only) by enrollment day (May 23rd). You may pay at any time before that date as well. Make payments to Phillis Smith in the high school office. No refunds will be available. The class will consist of 30 hours (10 days/2 weeks) of classroom training and 12 hours of observational driving-6 hours of actual driving. 5 Reasons to take Driver Education *Receive a discount on premiums of most major insurance companies. *Receive (elective) credit on high school transcript. *Receive un-restricted driver license one year faster than without driver training. *Student will receive professional training in the proper way to drive, building confidence and skills. *Driver education strives to achieve balance between teaching students basic driving skills and helping them to recognize risky situations and responding appropriately. Regular sign-up will be in Coach Shawver’s room in the high school on May 23rd at 10:00 AM. Payment for the course must be made in full by this date. Summer Drivers Education 2017 Classroom—3 hours a day for 10 days First day of class—Wednesday, May 24, 2017 May 24-26 (3 days) May 29, 2017—Memorial Day Holiday—no class May 30-June 2, 2017 (4 days) June 5-7, 2017 (3 days)
First Class 8:00 AM-11:00 AM Second Class 11:00AM-2:00 PM Total classroom time is 30 hours Driving—2 sessions per day, 3 hours per session, 3 students per session (change of students after each session) Session times 8:00 AM-11:00 AM and 11:00-2:00 PM Each student drives 1 hour per session they are scheduled.
