GOOGLE EXPERIENCE
We were fortunate to receive a visit from Google to showcase one of their newest technologies, Google Expeditions. This is a pioneering project which was only released in the past 6 weeks and is not yet available to the public. Schools in the USA, Canada, Denmark and New Zealand have been selected to try this out in their classrooms and we were fortunate enough to be selected! Children in Y3-Y6 visited the pyramids of Egypt, rainforests in Borneo, Rio de Janeiro in Brazil, the Great Wall of China and even the moon all while sitting in the comfort of their classrooms! Using the Google Cardboard viewfinders, which each housed a mobile phone, the children were able to enjoy a 360°panoramic view as their teacher led the expedition from the front of the class and pointed out key features. There was audible excitement within the classrooms! The opportunities to use this technology within the classroom to capture the children's imaginations and to stimulate new learning are endless. This is something the children and staff are keen for us to buy in to school in the future.

The children were shown a wide variety of fresh fruits and vegetables and informed that frozen, canned, dried and pure (sugar free) juices can count as part of the 5 a day. The main message was about making healthy food choices, drinking plenty of water each day and keeping our bodies fit and active through exercise.
