EASTVIEW BACKCOURT CLUB GIRLS BASKETBALL BOOSTERS MEETING MINUTES April 8, 2015 1. WELCOME & SIGN IN. Present: Terese Pickrain, Lori Lee, Jay Schlosser, Rachel Walstad, Melissa Guebert, Mimi Ponds Meeting began at 7:06pm. Acknowledgement of approval of March Backcourt Club minutes via email. 2. GIRLS BASKETBALL PROGRAM UPDATE – Coach Guebert The girls had a good season and took second place at State. Coach Guebert expressed gratitude toward parents who have gone out of their way to thank coaches and players for the season. 3. SUMMER EVENTS – Coach Guebert A lot of current girls are on AAU teams, which is going to impact availability this summer. We want to respect the AAU schedules while also having opportunities for connections to the high school team. Coaches (except 9th grade) are locked into only being able to work with girls June 1 to July 31, and they cannot doing anything before or after these dates. There is also a no contact period from July 4-10, during which nothing cane happen at the high school for most athletics, including basketball. Girls basketball cams will be the weeks following the end of school, as follows: o June 15-18 (Mon-Thurs): High school camp week, grades 9-12. 12:00m – 3:00pm. All HS coaches will lead camp. o June 22-25 (Mon-Thurs) Youth camp week, grades 1-8. Older high school girls typically help at these camps. 5th-8th grade will have camp from 8:30am-11: 30am and 1st-4th grade will have camp from 12:30pm-3:pm. o All camps will be at EVHS Summer league start at the beginning of June. There will be two teams-JV and V with subs. Players will be invited to teams. Games will take place on the following five Mondays: June 8, 15, 22, 29, July 13. The cost is $550 per team, which will be covered by the players. The goal will be to have 10 on a team. There will be a strength and conditioning program (Eastview Storm) This can be difficult for girls due to summer schedules. Coach would like all girls to do some kind of strength and conditioning program, whether through Eastview or on their own. Would also like

the players to focus on prevention and will encourage them to work with Maread to create a warm-up routing with this in mind. Would like girls to start taking more initiative about this and develop strong habits about getting their bodies warmed up before playing or shooting. There will likely be 1-2 one day tournaments this summer. May not go back to St. Michel because of courts. Will have to work around schedules. Coach Makepeace’s skills sessions were well received last year, so the plan is to do them again, but we are still trying to finalize a schedule. Would like to begin earlier in the summer to avoid conflicts. Scheduling the gym may be an issue, so they may be at Scott Highlands or Falcon Ridge if needed. Right now they are tentatively planned to begin on June third and will go 9 or 10 Wednesdays from 1:30pm-3:00pm.9-10 Wed, 1:30-3. The cost will be $100, payable to Coach Makepeace. Any sessions in August would need another training since Makepeace is an Eastview Coach and will have the August restrictions. There will be open gym times, probably on Wednesday and Sunday nights. Eastview has been invited back to Sweet 16, which is August 1-2. We have indicated that we will “maybe” participate. There is worry about doing it because girls are so tired at end of AAU season and Coach doesn’t want to increase chance of injury. May have Brian Ahmann work with girls in the fall, but would like him to come to the school. This hasn’t been decided yet. There will be a fall league again this eyar.
4. WISH LISTS/PURCHASES 2015/2016 SEASON – Coach Guebert Kurt Puschner has requested an option to create ore storage for game film. Jay will follow up with him to find a way to make this happen. Will wait for next year for new uniforms because we don’t have the funds to do so right now. 5. TREASURER’S REPORT – Terese Pickrain Our balance is lower than we thought it would be at this point. Banquet expense will be about 1400. That’s without decorations, cakes, etc. It was noted that the boys teams budget had money budgeted for coach and manager gifts. We’ll probably have about $3,000 left at end of year/beginning of next season. It was suggested that we order uniforms for 9th or 10th at very beginning of school year so they come by season. We will not have to pay for them until end of season. 6. END OF YEAR BANQUET – Terese PIckrain 6888176v3
Right now we have 69 people attending Menu has been decided on-there will be pasta with meatballs and a chicken dish. Decorations are set. Pepole will meet at 4:00 to decorate. Need to remind seniors to bring posters and big heads. For future planning Coach Guebert recommended looking into Crystal lake Golf course.
7. GAME/PRACTICE UNIFORMS – Johnny Gill Jay talking to someone about uniforms for 9th grade team. The person he talked to has a good deal on out of stock inventory. Nothing has been ordered yet and we aren’t deciding on this yet. 8. UPCOMING EVENTS
