Overview PlayhouseSquare’s Community Engagement & Education Department is unique in the performing arts industry for the variety of programs it offers, the partnerships it initiates and the access it provides students, educators and aspiring artists to performing arts professionals. Since its inception in 1998, the Community Engagement & Education Department has offered thousands of events, workshops, classes and more, most with minimal or no fees, to people of all ages from all areas of Northeast Ohio. The Department reaches more than 250,000 people each year.

Facts Works closely with 32 school districts that participate in “Partners in Performance” program and receive professional development for teachers and bus subsidies to bring students to PlayhouseSquare Offers unique breadth of Broadway enrichment opportunities – pre-show talks, post-show chats with cast members, online newsletter, master classes, distance learning and summer camp (all free except camp) Presents more than 400 events each year, many with no charge for participation or admission Commits $1 million annually to community engagement and education programming Partnered with Northeast Ohio’s public broadcasting stations to renovate an historic building into a state-of-the-art broadcast and educational facility, the Idea Center® at PlayhouseSquare
