If you are unable to attend this class, please cancel your reservation as soon as possible. We will refund class fees if we are given 48 hours notice (72 hours for classes scheduled on Mondays).

Mariner’s Compass Supply List We will be working with a Mariner’s Compass Block that is pieced and quilted “in the hoop”. The design is from HoopSisters and is really fun to stitch out. Select five fabrics for piecing in the hoop. You will also need backing, sashing and binding. The sashing is actually on the backing side only and you will most likely want it to match the backing. Sashing is part of the setting construction. Fabric Yardage: The Mariner’s Compass CD includes a pdf file with a Fabric Requirement & Cutting Chart for four possible block layouts. It includes a fabric placement guide on the last page. HoopSisters has asked us not to post that file on our website due to copyright restrictions. A copy is available at the store for those who have purchased the CD. Embroidery Thread: Choose several Isacord colors that match and some that contrast your fabrics. Plan to make final selections in class. If you have YLI variegated or Isacord multi color threads that coordinate with your fabrics, bring those. Battilizer: We will be using a combination stabilizer/batting called Battilizer. The Fabric Requirement & Cutting Charts indicate how many pieces of Battilizer to cut for each layout. If you are using the BERNINA large oval hoop, cut each piece of Battilizer 12” wide x 15” long. Machine: Bring your machine, module, all cords, both bobbincases, & embroidery presser foot. There are embroidery files for two blocks on the CD. Please transfer both to your machine or a USB stick that your machine can read.
