Leadership & Team/Organization Motivation Assessment (for team members): ! The Employee Motivation Equation Assessment is a diagnostic tool. It serves as a guide to help you understand your leaders strengths, and to help them develop their leadership style in a manner that, in just a short period of time, will allow you to help them build a highly motivated team. There are 21 motivational areas of organizational and team leadership that can make a significant difference when fulfilled at the highest level. This Assessment is just a small subset of “The Leadership Audit” developed by Jim Smith, The Executive Happiness Coach® a comprehensive Leadership Assessment of 100 key leadership characteristics over 10 vital leadership responsibilities (if interested in that assessment as well feel free to email Jim at
[email protected] Instructions: 1. Start by checking the box preceding any of the 21 statements. And, add up your score. 2. Be a rigorous, hard grader: If the statement is sometimes, or usually true, PLEASE DO NOT check the box until the statement is virtually always true for you. 3. Use the same context for every statement: Behavior is situational, e.g., a statement may be true at work but not at home. Be consistent with your interpretation. 4. If the statement does not apply to you, check the box: If, because of your role and responsibilities, or particular situation, you may come across a statement that is impossible for you to fulfill because your relationship with your leader hasn’t yet given you an opportunity to evaluate the point, you will get credit for it, since it doesn’t apply. However, you may adjust statements slightly so they can fit your situation better. 5. Record Your Score at the End of the Assessment. "# Make notes on actions you want to take, or questions you want to raise with your leader to help you improve your motivation to help them achieve the organization’s vision, strategy and goals.!

Leadership & Team/Organization Motivation Assessment (for team members): ! Part 2: Leaders’ Humility, Compassion & Empathy
! Our leader has shown humility is one of his/her’s core values and uses it appropriately to balance a strong leadership personality.
! Our leader is open to constructive feedback from others, and encourages it, when it is delivered in a positive manner.
! Our leader is always looking to improve him/herself, personally and professionally, and invests time, money and other resources to do so, and it shows.
! Our leader creates a positive learning environment by treating mistakes as learning opportunities. ! Our leader encourages people to take appropriate breaks from work and to use their full vacation. ! Our leader is flexible with team members who bring personal challenges to his/her attention in a timely manner, and makes reasonable accommodations to support them.
! Our leader acknowledges consistent, positive contributions by team members and rewards goal achievement as an incentive.
! Our leader puts him/herself in “others’ shoes” and seeks first to understand their perspective on issues.
! Our leader seeks to “fix” the problem, not the blame. ! Our leader doesn’t ask me or our team to do anything that he/she wouldn’t ask of themselves, or haven’t done previously, providing that it isn’t illegal, unethical, or immoral.
! Our leader knows how to listen with, and is comfortable knowing how to respond with, empathy. ! Our leader understands that responding with empathy doesn’t necessarily mean relieving a team
member of the responsibility for the situation about which they are communicating, and they expect us to define appropriate solutions and bring them to the table for joint evaluation.
Part 3: Employees’ Unique Aspiration(s)
! Our leader does not seem to assume that what motivates him/her, motivates others. ! Our leader communicates with me and/or our team members regularly and takes notice of what is important to us.
! Our leader shows noticeable shoes interest in, and tries to identify areas of interest/importance to me, and our team members, and uses that knowledge to reward and provide customized incentives for us.
! Our leader communicates with me and/or our team members to know our professional, and even some personal, aspirations so that he/she can find ways to connect our role on our team, and professional development opportunities, to those aspirations.
