Employee of the Month July It is with great joy that the Springfield School District announces Roe Giuffre as Employee of the Month for July 2015. After 36 years working in the Springfield School District, Roe has made plans to retire.Her most significant tenure has been spent in the guidance office at the high school. Prior to that post, Roe had worked part-time in the central office, holding several different positions.Outside of work, she likes to spend her time gardening. Of her retirement, Roe says, “[I] don’t have big plans, but I know that most of my summers will be spent in my garden... my favorite place.” Roe and her family have called Springfield and its community home for decades. “My husband, Joe, and I married in 1968 and we had three beautiful children,” she shares.“We moved to Springfield in 1977.” Shortly thereafter, Roe began to work in the Springfield School District, ultimately acquiring her position in the High School Guidance Office.“This has been my most rewarding work experience,” she explains.

She is the glue that holds the guidance department together. I do not know how we are going to survive without her. I will miss her conscientious, kind and generous personality. I wish her luck with her retirement.” The Central Office agrees. “Roe has been a valuable resource during her tenure assisting the district, graduating seniors and the Springfield Area Educational Foundation in coordinating scholarships awarded to students and preparing the Commencement Program,” explains Don Mooney, Executive Director of Operations.“She always has a ‘how can I help’attitude which makes getting the job done easier.”

True to the nature of the Springfield community, Roe most values the people with whom she has worked and the relationships she formed during her time in the Springfield School District. “I’ve made some wonderful friendships over the years,” she says.“The counselors, past and present, have just been the best folks ever with whom to work.
