Enclosed switches and fusegear

The comprehensive ABB range of Low Voltage Switches and Fusegear products including enclosed switch disconnectors meet the demanding requirements in industry and buildings as well as the distribution needs of utilities. The enclosed switches are suitable for power distribution in factories and buildings, as local motor isolators or main switches. Each incoming supply shall be provided with a hand operated main switch-disconnector

according to the Machine Directive EN 60204 and isolate the electrical equipment reliably from the supply. To meet these requirements the enclosures have handles possible to lock with padlocks in the OFF-position. The indication of the handle is always reliable, even if the contacts are welded together. The wide range of switch-disconnectors are available in plastic, steel sheet, stainless steel sheet and aluminum alloy enclosures from 16 to1600 Amperes.

The plastic enclosures are most suitable for locations with high chemical and moisture requirements. In addition they are light and easy to install and handle.

The steel sheet enclosures are hot dip galvanised and the surface is polyester powder painted. The enclosures are durable and robust for most environments.

Stainless steel sheet enclosure

Aluminum enclosures have very good impact strength and protection against UV light. They are suitable both for indoor and outdoor use in medium to heavy-duty applications.

The stainless steel sheet enclosures are made of AISI 304 stainless steel. They are used particulary in food and beverage industry and in locations where high hygienity is required. The smooth surface does not require any painting and is easy to clean.

Enclosed switches for demanding environments ATEX

ABB offers switches for use within dust explosive atmospheres, Category 3 for use in Zone 22 according to the European Directive (94/9/EC).

EMC

The enclosed EMC tested switches according to the European Diretive are constructed in such a way that unwanted signals or emissions are eliminated, and they have an adequate level of eletromagnetic protection or immunity. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) means interaction without unwanted influence within and between electrical equipment.

Full metal enclosed switches

The full metal enclosed switches are enclosed in very high quality acid proof AISI 316 stainless steel enclosures. Also the handle and cable flanges are made out of acid proof material. The protection class is IP65.

Fireman switches

The fireman switch is a special switch disconnector/ isolator, used by firemen to turn off neonlighting or other electrical equipment preventing overheated equipment from exploding. • Robust & reliable design in non flammable material (Aluminum) • Operating handle locked in the OFF-position and a two hands grip to reset for safety reasons. • Complies with IEC 60947-3 and BS7671.

Safety and reliability

Prevent unintentional start-up by padlocking with one, three or six padlocks. The handle cannot be padlocked in the OFF-position if one of the contact is not in the OFF-position. The cover cannot be removed if the handle is padlocked. (On all front operated switches) • Door interlock in the ON-position • Expander washers - On all aluminum enclosure • Arc tested latch system in steel sheet enclosures >125A
