EPIC SUMMER SOFTBALL CAMP 2017 “Epic” Sports Training and Fitness Academy will be holding our 3rd annual Summer Softball Camp on Monday, Tues., and Wednesday July 10, 11 and 12 (rain date: July 13) from 9:00 am to 1:00 PM at the Long Hill (Twp.) softball fields on Poplar Road in Stirling, NJ. The camp is open to girls entering 4th through 9th grades.

INSTRUCTORS: College coaches/players will be conducting the training sessions. Heather Bergman: Assistant Softball Coach, Montclair State University (MSU); 2014 NCAA Division III Eastern Region Coaching Staff of the Year; NCAA Division III College World Series, 2012; NCAA 2nd Team All-NJAC catcher in 2011 and 2012; 1st Team All Union County catcher at Governor Livingston High School. Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education with a specialty in exercise science; certified personal trainer; conducts plyometrics and agility training workouts for the MSU softball team and classes and private sessions at Epic Sports Training and Fitness Academy.
Alex Hill: Head Softball Coach, Parsippany Hills High School. One of the top NCAA Division III pitchers of all time, Alex was an NCAA DIII First Team All American in 2012, 2013 and 2014. The ace of the Montclair State University pitching staff, Alex was the NJAC Conference Pitcher of the Year all 4 years at MSU (2011 through 2014). In 2012 and 2014 Alex was also selected as the NJAC Conference female athlete of the year. In 2013 she became the first Montclair State University female athlete to be selected as an NCAA First Team Academic All American! In 2013, Alex led all college pitchers in the nation in strikeouts (431) and victories (38)! Elena Scarano: A 2014 graduate of Westfield High School, Elena was selected the Star Ledger’s Union County High School Softball Player of the Year in 2013. In 2013 and 2014 she helped pitch the Westfield High School Blue Devils to the Union County Championship. In 2014 Elena was selected Most Valuable Scholastic Softball Player by the Union County Baseball Association. A stellar 2 sport athlete, Elena currently plays volleyball at Division I Loyola University in Baltimore.
Rich Vaccaro: A former men’s semi-pro fastpitch softball windmill pitcher, Coach Vaccaro was an Assistant Softball Coach/Pitching Coach/batting practice pitcher for the Montclair State University (MSU) Red Hawks from 2010 through 2013. As the NCAA Division III Eastern Regional Champions in 2012 and 2013, the Red Hawks coaching staff was selected as the NCAA Division III Regional Coaching Staff of the Year. In 2013 his MSU pitching staff had the lowest earned run average in the country (0.90) out of all Division I, Division II and Division III teams, giving up just 58 runs (46 earned) in 51 games ! Coach Vaccaro was previously the Head Softball Coach at South Hunterdon Regional High School, and he played baseball at NJIT. His current students include pitchers on 15 different high school varsity teams and his hitting students play on numerous high school and college teams.
