Epsilon Alpha• Lenoir-Rhyne University Fall/Winter 2016

Epsilon Alpha initiated nine women in the fall semester. Initiation took place at the chapter house on November 13th, 2016. The chapter had three alumnae present: Kelly Harrison Amanda Bell & Jenkins, Elizabeth Jordan to help with welcoming the new initiate members to the mystic bond. After the ceremony sisters went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner and sisterly fun. See picture at the bottom for a list of who was initiated. A week earlier, sisters celebrated Founder’s Day ( see photo above). Epsilon Alpha was hosted by Theta Mu chapter for a founder’s day program and brunch at Charlotte, NC.

Letter from the new president: Katelyn Lambert It is a great honor to be given the opportunity to hold the position of president for Epsilon Alpha chapter. Since being in Sigma Kappa for the past year, I have had the great honor of taking on positions; such as, vice president of membership, sisterhood chairman, and social/activities chairman. While having these positions, I have been able to learn a lot about myself and most importantly, it has given me great leadership skills that I intend to use while being president. I want to do everything possible to ensure that I uphold all the duties to the best of my ability and overall just be someone that the rest of the chapter can confide in and come to with any problems that they may be facing. Somethings that I hope to see happen this upcoming semester is first and foremost to see our chapter continue to prosper in all things we set our minds to. But also, I want to see us have a sisterhood bond like no other chapter or organization on campus. The definition of a sisterhood means so much more than it ever has before since I was given the opportunity to be a part of Sigma Kappa. It’s a warm smile on a cold and rainy day, a friendly hug, or cheerful hello. Its baking cookies together and random late night Cookout runs. It’s get better cards when you are sick. It’s “Just because I love you” presents. It’s a phone call or a text just to make you smile. It’s all that a good and lasting friendship is, only so much better! It’s treasured and sacred. It’s knowing that there will always be someone there for you, no matter what. It’s dreams shared, and goals achieved. It’s counting on others, and being counted on. It’s Sigma Kappa! I truly cannot imagine my life without Sigma Kappa and I want to give back to this chapter in all the ways that they have given to me.
