Get an Emergency Travel Document (ETD) An ETD lets you leave another country if you can’t get a replacement British passport in time. You can apply for an ETD if you’re a British national outside the UK and your passport has been lost, stolen, damaged or has expired. What an ETD allows you to do: Leave the country you’re in and travel to your destination via a maximum of 5 countries. Cost: You’ll have to pay a non-refundable fee of €132/£100 (subject to exchange rate variation). Applications for ETDs out of hours need to be approved by the FCO in London and are subject to an additional call out fee. IN PERSON: If you do not have access to the internet, you can complete the full process in person at your nearest Consulate. You must bring: - Proof of your travel plans e.g a printed booking confirmation. - A police report if your passport has been stolen. - A recent passport photograph, or 5€ to get one done in the photo booth we have on the premises - Funds to pay for the ETD. Preferred payment is by credit/debit card. We don’t accept Maestro. In addition to the above, if you are applying for a child under 16 you will need to bring: - The child is required to attend - Written proof that everyone who has parental responsibility for the child agrees to the application - A photocopy of the passport photo page of those with parental responsibility for the child.
