New York Social Studies Solution Grades K-2 are interactive, consumable work texts that encourage and support student engagement in your classroom. The Online Student Editions offer engaging resources and features like text highlighting, note taking, and assignment submission online. Students respond to teacher-posted discussion topics while learning about the history, culture, and people of New York and around the world. Grade K - Living, Learning, and Working Together ignites students’ social studies journey by helping learners explore and learn about themselves and others. Young learners develop an understanding for civic ideals and practices, community and country, personal development, and cultural identity. Grade 1 - Our Community and Beyond students learn about special holidays and heroes, civic ideals and responsibilities, and beginning economics. Exploring the text, students learn to read and understand maps, such as: neighborhood, classroom, political, location, and physical maps. Students write and illustrate their ideas throughout the text, ending the school year with a firm grasp of new ideas about their community and beyond.
