Examples of the Security Changes The ideal would be to have a run of cards from the same man from the day he landed in France & Flanders until the day he was discharged. Sadly the chances of this are very few and far between. 2654 Private Frederick Cyril Higgs served with the 1/4th Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry in the 145 Brigade of the 48th (South Midland Division). He landed in France on 29 March 1915 and in 1917 he was re-numbered 200641 and he ended the war with the rank of Sergeant. The early 1915 cards with the Triangle Censor Mark are missing but this card sent before the security changes bears the 145 Brigade Field Post Office hand stamp and the Hexagon Censor Mark 2142 allotted to 1/4th OBLI. The card is censored by A Hunt, there were three officers with this surname and initial served with the battalion one of whom was KiA ten days before the card was censored.

Phase V 1.2.18 – 31.7.18, This card is out of the sequence as the 48th Division having moved to the Italian Front stared using its own FPO 145 again. This card has been posted at General Headquarters Italian Expeditionary Force.
A few days later another card sent with the FPO 145 date stamp and the Censor Mark Type 8 Shield 491.
