Uniondale High School Equity Officer (stipend)

Qualifications:       

At least 5 years of teaching/student support experience in Uniondale (must be tenured). Documented evidence of success raising student achievement/performance (student portfolios, student work, behavioral plans, attendance records, NYS scores). Evidence of leadership responsibilities within and/or outside of your current position/school (club sponsor, grade level leader, community outreach). In-depth knowledge and commitment in Educational Equity and Cultural Responsiveness. Previous experience developing and providing professional development within and/or outside of your current position/school. Ability to create presentations and evaluate various forms of data. Three letters of reference, including one letter from your building principal.

Yearly Stipend: $2,500 Job Goal: Serve as a building liaison for the District Level Excellence & Equity in Education (E3) Committee, assist in implementing and developing a system that is equitable for all stakeholders, through three broad strands of development: professional development, community development, and school development. Job Responsibilities:  Assist in implementing the “Excellence & Equity Plan” on a building level  Attend E3 monthly meetings and monthly E3 Advisory Board meetings  Attend yearly professional development workshops with the E3 and turn key to building personnel via professional development days and afternoons.  Support school leadership in implementing accountability systems for equity, such as maintaining the Experiential Learning Plan, Restorative Justice Practices and discipline data collection.  Create an E3 Resource center at your building to support teachers in identifying material, resources and programs for integrating and implementing culturally responsive pedagogy in the classroom.  Develop and implement in collaboration with school leaders and staff: building/school-wide family and community engagement annual events and monthly/weekly activities that are relevant to all students.  Assess and report quarterly whether all school and classroom systems, programs and interventions are culturally responsive, using a checklist/report developed by the E3 Advisory Board.  Collect both Qualitative (such as building program agenda’s, shared lesson plans, etc.) and Quantitative (such as climate survey’s, Attendance, Discipline, etc…) data that demonstrate and support the mission of the E3 Committee  Serve as building level liaison for Community Based Organizations that support the E3 Mission If you are interested, please send a letter of interest by November 9, 2017 to: Myrtle Dickson Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources 933 Goodrich Street, Uniondale, NY 11553
