3. Sew the five strip segments RST along the short edges to make the 13" x 80 ½" side for the pouf; sew a line of stay stitching a scant ¼" from each end (Dia. B).

5. Corded Edges: Cut the eight remaining strips in half to make two 2 ½" x 21" strips from each print. Set aside one 21" strip from each print to be used in piecing the top and bottom bases. Sew four strips together end to end; press seams open. Repeat with the four remaining strips (Dia. D).

6. Fold the strip over the cording wrong sides together so the long edges are even. Use a zipper foot and set the needle to the farthest left position. Sew with a basting stitch close to the cord. Trim so there is 3⁄8" to the right of the stitching (Dia E). Repeat with the remaining strip set to make a second covered cord. 7. Baste one covered cord to the right side of one edge of the Pouf side, with cut edges even. To join the ends of the covered cord, stop stitching within 1 ½" of the beginning; trim the cording only so the ends overlap by 1". Take out the last inch of stitches from the covered cording on the second end; pull out and cut off one inch of cord. On the same end, fold the casing under 3⁄8" and lap it around the first end. Slip the cord back into the seam. Baste in place and finish stitching the cording to the pouf side (Dia. F). Repeat for the second covered cord on the other edge of the pouf. Dia. E

10. Sew the rows together. Fold the base in half both ways. Measure and mark a 13 ¼" radius from the center; cut on the line. Tip: To draw a radius, tie one end of a string to a pencil. Adjust the length of the string to measure 13 ¼". Place the end of the string at the corner of the folds. Draw a 13 ¼" radius from side to side. Repeat to make a second Pouf base.
FINISHING 11. Mark on the Pouf bases and sides at four equal places. Match the markings and pin the bases to the side edges RST. Using a ½" seam, sew with the side on top, between the cord and the corded stitching. Note: Use the zipper foot technique as in Step 4. 12. Turn right side out through the opening and stuff with polyester fiberfill to desired firmness. Note: The more the better as fiberfill tends to compress with use. Pin opening closed along stay stitching and sew by hand. 13. Tufting: Center and sew washers to the top and bottom using the long needle and Heavy Duty thread. Sew around the sides of each washer through the centers and the Pouf several times to secure tufting. 14. Following manufacturer’s instructions, use fabric scraps to cover the 1 1⁄8" buttons and sew to Pouf, covering the washers.
Finished Care Instructions: Wipe surface with a damp cloth to clean.
