Verbal warning Individual conference with student Parent / guardian contact Minor disciplinary referral Major disciplinary referral *
* Note: Any three minor disciplinary referrals automatically result in a major disciplinary referral
Grades / Points: Students will receive a minimum of two grades in the gradebook each week. Students can earn a maximum of 50 participation points daily. Students are responsible for calling out their own points at the end of each class period, adjusting their points for any behaviors, not being prepared, etc. In a typical week, students will also complete two writing about math assignments during stations – each worth 50 points. Students will be graded on work that is assigned individually based on their IEP goals and individual levels. Finally, students will earn 20 points daily for completing bell ringers.
Behavior Punch Cards: Students will receive a new punch card for behavior each week. They will receive a separate handout explaining the procedures for these cards.
Late Work: Late work will be accepted until grades for that quarter are due. Students will have points taken off for turning in assignments late.
Restroom Breaks: Please avoid leaving class to use the restroom unless it is an emergency. If a student does need to use the restroom, they may use their BARK Pass and go. Students may not share BARK Passes. Students only get one BARK Pass per quarter. Punches not used at the end of the quarter can be redeemed for extra credit points in the class of their choosing.
Tardies: Arriving tardy to class automatically results in a minor disciplinary referral
Substitute Teachers: There will be a couple of times throughout the school year where I will not be in class due to professional development meetings, military duties, or illness. In the rare event that I am absent, there will be a substitute teacher; all expectations and procedures still apply. I will ask that Mrs. Thornsbrough, Mrs. DeWitt, or Mrs. Triplett to check in to ensure things run smoothly. I expect positive reports from the substitute when I return from any absence. You are all young adults; do the right thing!
D.R.A.F.T. SJHS will be implementing DRAFT during advisory again this year, after its success last year. It is adapted from another school district and will be completely individualized based on student grades and class progress. There will be DRAFT days approximately every 3-4 weeks in which grades and observations will be reported for all students. Teacher teams will meet to discuss the students on their teams and assign them a card status: gold, silver, or bronze. These card statuses determine what the students will be doing each day of the week during advisory. DRAFT reward parties will occur during advisory at the end of each semester. Gold Card Status:
Silver Card Status:
Bronze Card Status:
• Students with 95% or higher • Students with all A’s, B’s or attendance rate C’s
• Students with at least one D or F
