Experience and work approach
I have over 7 years of experience as full time artist, both as studio artist and street artist/muralist. I have been working in Italy, Japan, Australia, Pakistan, New Zealand, Philippines, UK, Canada and the U.S.A. My clients include municipalities, corporations, festivals, Rotary Clubs, National parks, Biennale Art festivals, various organisations, Art associations and privates. The best to approach the project in Bayfront, Newport, is to completely restore the mural. In the RFP is requested to only retouch the areas that are damaged. This approach won’t result in uniform and long-lasting restoration. This because the new painting would either be applied on old and unstable painting, more to peeling, and because the colour shade over the years will become higher. The best approach would be to copy the mural on paper 1:7 scale, while taking as many photographic references as possible. Then, to pressure wash the mural, followed by a high-quality acrylic latex primer. This will ensure the new mural, which will be similar to the old one, will be done on the best possible base. Then, I will recreate the mural exactly the way it was, with the same palette colour it had when it was realised. In this way, we would recreate the mural exactly has it was, rather then fill some areas that are now without colours. The colour that can be seen now, are probably very faded, and the result of the mural being outside for so long. By applying a new layer of colour, it will over time be visible that it has been retouched. By recreating the whole mural, with high-quality acrylic paint (I will use Daler Rowney System 3 acrylic paint, that I will use for the actual mural) we will ensure that the whole mural will last for longer. Once completed, I will apply an anti-graffiti and anti-UV coat, ideally the VandlGuard® Anti-Graffiti Coating.

limeline I currently have 7 murals on commission, the first being in Arkansas during the end of February and mid March, then one in Virginia, due to be completed by the 70th of April, followed by 5 more murals in San Francisco, to be completed by mid-May. I could start working on the mural before the end of May, having it completed before the first half of June.
Budget A budget of $9,500 will cover all the expenditures. This includes the transportation, food and accomodation cost, the material (acrylic primer, high quality Daler-Rowney acrylic paint, VandlGuard® Anti-Graffiti Coating) the artist’s lee, scaffolding hire and the contingencies.
