Continue to the Garden of Gethsemane to see the ancient olive trees. We see the Pools of Bethesda where Jesus healed the lame man, then continue through the Old City following the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher. Enjoy a falafel lunch, then continue to Mount Zion to visit the Church of St. Peter in Gallicantu, Caiaphas’ House where Jesus was held before trial. Enjoy some free time at Mehane Yehuda Market. At the Davidson Center, see a virtual tour of the Second Temple, then walk through the archeological park and visit the Temple’s Southern Steps, the only entrance to the Second Temple. We visit the Jewish Quarter to see the ancient Roman Cardo and the remains from Hezekiah’s Wall. Return to the Western Wall to observe Shabbat preparations, then enjoy a Shabbat meal. Overnight in Jerusalem.

Day 5, Saturday, Oct 28—Leaving Jerusalem, we drive to the lowest spot on earth, the Dead Sea. We visit Qumran, the ancient city of the Essenes and site of the Dead Sea Scrolls discovery. At the City of David we visit the new excavations revealing some of the most exciting archeological finds of the ancient world. Archeologists have found what they believe is King David’s Palace that has been undisturbed for over 3,000 years. Located just outside the Old City walls we see the exciting discoveries of original Jerusalem, and see the recently discovered Pools of Siloam. Next we visit the Israel Museum and see the Holy Land Model, a 1:50 miniature replica of Jerusalem from the Second Temple period, then continue to Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Museum, in memory of the millions murdered by the Nazis. We end the day with a time of worship and communion at the Garden Tomb, one of the sites believed to be the burial place of Jesus.
