Fairfield High School Girls Volleyball FAQ What is required this summer? The only mandatory summer event is tryouts beginning August 1st. All events in June and July are simply opportunities to better prepare for the season as a player and teammate. However, attendance at all voluntary activities is strongly recommended by the coaching staff. Once teams are established, all practices, scrimmages, and games are mandatory. Who is the coaching staff? Varsity Head Coach – Jessi Smith (science teacher, Freshman School) Varsity Assistant Coach – Jay Bauer (special education teacher, High School) JV Coach – JJ Einsfeld (social studies teacher, Middle School) Freshman Coach – Ryan Copper (math teacher, Middle School) When are tryouts? Tryouts for players entering grades 9-12 are August 1st, 2nd, and 3rd from 9-11 am in the FHS Arena. Attendance is required at all three sessions. What is required for tryouts? All players must have every component of Final Forms completed (both player and parent electronic signatures) AND a physical hard copy submitted to the Athletic Trainer to participate in tryouts. These resources can be accessed through fhsindians.com under the Indians HQ and Sports Medicine tabs. When are physicals? Students may have physicals completed by their physician, or at any clinic. Fairfield Athletic Department offers physicals for student athletes in partnership with Mercy Health for $10. These will be held on Monday, May 23rd. Please enter FHS through the back athletic entrance (Door #9). Physical form history must be filled out and printed before arriving. Times are as follows: Incoming Seniors for 2016/17: 5:45 PM Incoming Juniors for 2016/17: 6:15 PM Incoming Sophomores for 2016/17: 6:45 PM Incoming Freshman for 2016/17: 7:15 PM

Are there any camps my child can attend? Incoming freshmen can attend the Fairfield Youth Volleyball Camp July 26 th-28th. There will also be a varsity team camp (more information will be available soon). Players are always encouraged to attend local college skills camps (Miami University, University of Cincinnati, Ohio State, etc.). When should we schedule a family vacation? Every year tryouts will be held the first week of August. We recommend avoiding any vacations in August. As a general rule, anytime in June and early or middle July is a good time to schedule family vacations. If you have something scheduled, contact a coach and let them know the dates you will be out of town. How can I stay updated? Follow @ff_volleyball on Twitter for updates and changes!
