On November 29th, three vans left early in the morning from Fairland to serve at the Baltimore/Washington Operation Christmas Child Processing Center. After shoeboxes are filled they are gathered at various drop off centers, they are then delivered to one of eight processing centers throughout the country. At the processing center, volunteers remove any money packed in shoeboxes for shipping costs and any inappropriate items. If the shoebox is not full, volunteers then fill with filler items. Shoeboxes are then taped closed and sorted into the Church Office Hours gender and age specific carton for shipping. If the shoebox has a follow me tracking label, the volunteer would scan the shoebox and carton so that tracking Mon. Wed & Fri. information could be emailed to those tracking their shoeboxes. 8am-2pm The Baltimore processing center was hoping to process 1 717-272-4276 million shoeboxes during the 4 weeks it was open by averaging 46,000 shoeboxes per day.
