F airw eather Range Brady Icefield Traverse and M ount Bertha Attem pt. On May 6, Tim Baldw in, "Chipotle" Charlie Kiblinger, Brad Hopp, Tim Kelley, and I were flown into Reid Inlet in G lacier Bay National Park. We spent 23 days skiing and exploring the Brady Icefield. For our attem pt o f M ount Bertha (10,204 feet), we chose the route o f first ascent pioneered by Bradford W ashburn. We turned back after three days on the m ountain because o f poor snow condi tions and warm tem peratures. We were successful in clim bing several nunataks and we skied from the sum m it of M ount Divide (4,240 feet). We follow ed a “m iracle highw ay” through heavily-crevassed terrain on Taylor G lacier to reach the m oraine and the w aters o f Taylor Bay. A short bush w hack brought us to Dundas Bay and our flight to Juneau on M ay 28. L en Z a n n i
