A REVOLUTION OF HUMANITY John 4:7-26 March 12, 2017 1. Jesus Offered Women a New Community A Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, “Give me a drink”. (His disciples had gone to the city to buy food.) The Samaritan woman said to him, “How is it that you, a Jew, ask a drink of me, a woman of Samaria?” (Jews do not share things in common with Samaritans.) Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink’, you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.” John 4:7-10 2. Jesus and His Followers Offered All People a New Seating Chart There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28 [Jesus said:] “Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me.” Matthew 25:40 “The idea that “the least of these” were to be treasured created a new vision of the human being. People actually took Jesus at his word.” John Ortberg
A Warm Welcome Welcome to Southern Hills United Methodist Church! We are so glad that you have chosen to worship with us today. Before you leave, please take a few minutes to stop by our Welcome Center located just outside the worship center in the Narthex. Our volunteers will be happy to assist you with any questions you may have or additional information you desire about the church. METHODIST MEN CANCELLED The Methodist Men meeting scheduled for March 13, 2017 will not meet. The next meeting will be April 10, 2017 and our own Cliff Tibbits will be speaking about his passion for cars and the routes he has traveled. He mentioned something about “Route 66” which brings back memories from the time before interstate highways. See you in April.
FAITH, HOPE & LOVE IN ACTION The Sarah Bagby Circle sponsors a Spring Flower Sale every year. For several Sundays plants are available to purchase, preview and order. Flowers and plants are available for pick up at a later date in May. All proceeds go to help with church projects/needs and also help local charities in our community. The circle welcomes guests and new members to come to a meeting for fellowship and an interesting program. For more information about the Sarah Bagby Circle, please contact Mary Ellen Lutz at 269-6167. For general UMW information, please contact Virginia Liptrap at 223-1737.

[email protected] TIPS FOR FAMILY DISCIPLESHIP: This month during Family Worship, practice repeating the sermon quietly in your child's ear while they are on your lap. Use words that are ageappropriate if words are difficult to explain. BELIEVER BUTTONS: Children were given the first list of 18 buttons they can start earning. Pick any button you want and work with your child at home on it. When they are ready to tell Shawnne or me, just let us know! We will start distributing buttons in March so children have time to start learning them. If you don’t have a copy of the button information, please send Kristina an email at
[email protected]. LUNCH WITH SHKIDS: Be on the lookout for emails from Kristina about having lunch with your child. She's trying to schedule those on Wednesdays! KIDS AND FAMILIES ON A MISSION: Come join us as Kids and Families dive in to Scripture, Games and Missions each Wednesday night at 6:30!

Dr. Bill Moore will be leading the study. The books will be on sale at the Welcome Center$12 for the book, $8 for the study guide. Get them both for $20!
LENTEN TAIZÉ Lent, the season of preparation for celebrating Easter, is historically a time for fasting, repentance and prayer. Our monthly worship experience in the style of Taizé provides a wonderful opportunity for such reflection. This month, our service will held on Wednesday, March 15th at 6:15 p.m. Please make plans to join us for a time of prayer, Scripture readings, singing, meditation and Holy Communion.
It’s a Cowgirl Campfire Put on your jeans, chaps, ten-gallon hats, and a little bling (it is CowGIRL), and come ready to sing Western campfire songs (Think Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Bob Wills and the Sons of the Pioneers). Bring a dish for the chuckwagon. We’ll tie our horses in the parking lot! United Methodist Women
An Egg-cellent health tip! Studies (J Am Coll Nutr, 2005 Dec; 24(6): 510-5; International Journal of Obesity (2008) 32, 1545-1551) show that trading eggs for bagels on an equal calorie basis for breakfast eases the hunger pangs and improves weight loss for dieters. If you’re hoping to shed a few pounds as spring approaches, consider starting your day with eggs or other protein.

Timothy Project: Each year we pair students up with an adult in our church that prays for & sends notes of encouragement to that student from April through May. The students do not know who is praying for & writing to them. They meet at a banquet, which will be on May 21 this year.
