Magic loop can be used to make socks, sleeves and hats and is a great skill to have in your toolbox. Prerequisites: Must be competent to independently do a long-tail cast-on, knit, purl, bind-off, increase, decrease and be familiar with knitting in the round. It is commonly considered to be a faster knitting technique. In this class, you will learn to put those stitches back on the needle correctly as well as recognize and fix small errors such as twisted and dropped stitches. You will also learn how to undo (a.k.a. “tink”) your knitting in order to make a correction. Cost: $25 Thursday morning, Oct. 12 from 9:30-11:30 am 1 two-hour class Have you ever found a mistake several rows down on a project and debated whether to fix or ignore it? If your primary repair strategy is to rip out your knit- ting, this class may be for you! You will learn to work your way down to a single incorrect stitch, fix it, then work back up to your current row. You will then pull out, repair, and re-knit a group of stitches while leaving the rest of your project intact. Not all mistakes can be fixed in this way but since so many can, it’s a technique well worth learning. Crochet edging can be just the answer! In this class, you will learn three different edges: single crochet, scallop, and a novelty stitch for fun. You will knit swatches at home then crochet edges on them in class. You will learn color families, an artillery of color vocabulary and how to use it in your knits. Activities will include color matching yarns to an inspirational image, knitting small swatches with new combinations, and working with paper to study color. NE Class: Custom Fit - Measuring & Choosing a Pattern Cost: $40 Dates/Time: Wed. evenings, Sept. 27 & Oct. 4 from 5:30-7:30 pm Duration: 2 classes, each class is 2 hours Skills Learned: Amy Herzog’s Custom Fit Program allows you to choose any of her patterns, and any yarn, combined with your measurements to generate a pattern specifically for you. In this class you will learn how to use the Custom Fit Program to create sweaters that fit perfectly. You will leave with a detailed set of your own personal measurements and the skills to make a high-quality swatch to determine your unique gauge, a must for accurate sizing. Then the Custom Fit system will do all the math for you and generate a personalized sweater pattern based on your measurements and gauge. You get to choose a pattern design you like and any weight yarn you want! Note: Yarn is not included in the class price. Using your per sonalized sweater pattern, you will make the sweater on your own. THIRTEEN EASY CHRISTMAS PROJECTS It seems early, but soon the countdown to Christmas will begin. Have no fear, we’re here to help with our
Knit Down to Christmas! Mother of Purl will send out a weekly project idea by email featuring a simple one or two-skein project each week for the 13 weeks leading up to Christmas to get you ready with all your handmade holiday presents. The focus is simple, quick and a good value with a FREE pattern. Let us help make the decisions, so you can just knit! Here’s how it works: • Every week from mid-September to early December we will feature a pattern (that will be free with yarn purchase) and one or two selected yarns for that project. • You’ll receive a quick email on Friday announcing that week’s project. • We’ll have a sample and suggested yarns on display to make it easy to decide. • It’ll be a quick and easy way for you to make your handmade gifts for the holidays. • Skill level for the projects will vary, but most are appropriate for beginners or advanced beginners.
