FALL INTO FALL MULTI-MEANING WORDS Literacy Center By Amy Grout

Task Card 1. Fold a piece of paper into 2 equal parts. 2. Select a word card. 3. Read the meanings for the word. Pay close attention to how the different parts of speech change the word meaning 4. Write your word at the top of your paper. 5. On the left side of your paper, write the sentence that shows your word used one way. Next, draw a picture of your sentence. Finally, use your word in a new sentence that shows the same meaning. 6. Now, do the same thing for the other meaning of your word on the right side. Copyright © 2012 Amy Grout

Nouns 1. The little bat hung upside down in the cave.

watch Noun 1. My new watch helps me tell time.

2. Which bat do you use to hit the ball? Verb 1. The kitten bats the toy mouse.

Verb 1. Watch out for cars when you cross the street.

Nouns 1. The cook made eggs for breakfast.

Noun 1. The black fly landed on the cake.

Verb 1. Let’s cook steak for dinner.

Verb 1. We will fly to New York City.

wave Noun 1. The wave knocked me off of my float. Verb 1. Mom waved good-bye as the school bus drove away.

Noun 1. My little sister has a cold.

Noun 1. We went to see a play about visiting a pumpkin patch.

Adjective 1. The cold weather helps apples ripen.

Verb 1. I love to play football.

Verb 1. My dog barks whenever the doorbell rings.
