Due to recent successes of the Christmas fair being on a Friday after school, we thought this year we would trial having the summer fair on a Friday. This would make it easier to set up and hopefully enable more people to come. Once again we had some great stalls including a new one with Crazy Sand. This proved quite busy and we ran out, so we will definitely try to do this again at Christmas for those who didn’t get a chance! Another new one, which proved very popular, was the Teddy Tombola. We sold out in record time! We were also very lucky with the weather as the rain just about stayed away. Unfortunately the gokarts were not willing to come and risk the bad weather, and we had nowhere to have them inside so they had to cancel.

Kids Club once again provided the food for the BBQ, so thanks to them for their contribution and to Kevin and Mrs Jackson for doing the cooking and serving! We also decided to make our cake stall a Bake off Competition this year, and we had some fab entries, more about this later… We had a brilliant quantity of donations this year, mainly helped by the non-uniform contribution day that we held. This proved to be very successful and we will definitely try it again. Thanks to everyone who donated and helped out on stalls, or to set up the fair. We did very well making just over £1,000.00 profit so it was definitely worth trialling a Friday.
We see the magic in every child... and help make them sparkle!
Race for Life Fun Run We have tried a few new things this year, another being the annual fun run. After some discussion we decided this year to make our fun run a Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research. Cancer is affecting more and more people around us and this was one way for us at Finchale to help and remember people we know who have been, or are being, affected by it. A huge thank you to everyone who got behind this event by turning up to cheer the children on and donating. We thought we would offer text, online and traditional sponsor forms for donating to make it easier and this definitely paid off!! We have donated a massive £1,654.20 to Cancer Research, including money that was still coming in last week!!!! Fantastic, we should be very proud. Well done to all the children who ran, they got a lovely medal for their efforts.
Mini Beasts Reception recently had a visit from Rob at Zoolab and some of his friends! This was paid for with PTA funds and gave the children hands-on experience of the topic they were learning about. They were very well-behaved and brave, holding creatures including giant snails, snakes, centipedes and tarantulas.
Leavers’ Prom We were unable to book anywhere big enough for the prom this year so decided to have it at school. A lot of effort was put into to decorating the hall and covering walls to make it look less like a school hall, and more like a disco! Thanks to everyone who helped with this. As an extra treat the PTA funded a photo booth for the occasion, and it seems everyone had a great time dressing up and having their pictures taken. Good luck to Year 6 who move up to Comprehensive School in September.
Bake Off Competition As mentioned, our cake stall was also a Bake Off Competition this year. The winner was Holly from Year 6 with her three flavoured, vanilla, chocolate and mocha cake. Well done Holly!
PTA Dates….. Next Meeting 19th September 2016 ALL WELCOME
We have teamed up with Stamptastic, who will give us 20% of any sales using the code ‘Finchale’. Go to their website stamptastic.co.uk to have a look at their great products and don’t forget to quote ‘Finchale’ if you decide to buy anything. Please also pass this on to anyone you think may be interested. This fundraising idea came from a KS1 parent - if you know of any other fund raising ideas please do let us know. Thank you.
