FC Dutchmen Mid Summer Press Release: Coach Matt Jones joins FC Dutchmen Coaching Staff! Current College of Saint Rose Head Men’s Coach Matt Jones has joined the FC Dutchmen staff for 2012 – 2013. Coach Jones brings a wealth of coaching experience to Guilderland. The former Assistant Coach at the College of St. Rose and Siena College, Matt holds an Advanced National Diploma from the NSCAA as well as years of club and high school coaching experience. Matt is originally from Burnt Hills and played his college soccer at St. Rose.

Coach Brian Gordon joins FC Dutchmen Coaching Staff! Recently named the full time Assistant Women’s Coach at Hartwick College, Brian Gordon has also joined the FC Dutchmen staff for 2012 – 2013. Coach Gordon recently coached the U17 and U10 boy’s teams for the Massachusetts Premier Soccer Club (MPS) before moving to the area. Brian holds numerous coaching licenses from the Scottish Football Association and played semi-professionally in his native Scotland after graduating from Hartwick College.

Coach Stephen Hogan joins FC Dutchmen Coaching Staff! Current College of Saint Rose Assistant Coach Stephen Hogan has joined the FC Dutchmen staff for 2012 – 2013. Coach Hogan a former youth national team player in Ireland and Technical Director of the Rage Youth Program holds numerous FAI coaching licenses from his native Ireland. Stephen played collegiately at Martin Methodist College in Tennessee.

Joe Duffy named FC Dutchmen College Recruitment Coordinator! Coach Joseph Duffy has been appointed as the FC Dutchmen College Recruitment Coordinator for 2012 – 2013. What we believe is the first hire of this type of position in our area; Coach Duffy will be responsible for assisting Dutchmen players ages U16 – U18 as they prepare for the college recruitment process. Joe will help to organize the new “Dutchmen Cup” – College Showcase Tournament which will be held each November as well as the creation of written materials to promote our club players and fall / winter programs designed to help guide parents and student athletes.

FC Dutchmen announces the Dutchmen College Cup Tournament! This November Guilderland United / FC Dutchmen Premier will host their first college showcase tournament appropriately named the “Dutchmen College Cup.” This tournament will feature both girls and boys weekends with over 35 teams ages U16 through U18 attending from throughout the northeast. We anticipate over 100 college coaches will be attending each weekend and there will be no additional cost to our FC Dutchmen Teams!

Club to offer extra training sessions this winter! From December through March Guilderland United will offer and extra training night for those players who would like to attend. All age groups from U10 through U18 will have this opportunity with registration taking place October. This will be a 12 week program where players will experience a variety of coaching styles and topics. The staff will include Mary Francis-Monroe from the University at Albany, Matt Jones from the College of Saint Rose, Brian Gordon from Hartwick College, Trevor Gorman from the University at Albany, Rob Bruley from Coerver NY, as well as many others. The cost of this program will be posted in the next few weeks and space for each weeks 1 hour and 15 minute training session will be limited. Players who are interested must sign up for the entire 12 week program.

Guilderland United to offer U8 Program for 2012 – 2013 Beginning this fall Guilderland United will sponsor a U8 Program for the first time in their history. Coach Bill Bogue will direct the program which will be limited to 2 (12) player teams to start. Teams are coed and currently the program is in the development stage with full description due to be released in August. So keep a look out!
