Finishing Deadlines To ensure your special holiday needlepoint is finished and ready on time to display or gift, please make note of the following 2016 finishing deadlines. Halloween – July 30 Thanksgiving and Hanukkah – August 5 Christmas – August 12 Stockings and Cuffs – November 1
Free Chart Diane Snyder has created a quick, fun, easy to do project to celebrate National Watermelon Day on August 5.
Use Beads as a Thread! We typically use beads on our needlepoint canvas as an embellishment option. They enhance the center of our flowers, make Christmas berries glitter, or simply accent a particular small area on the canvas for added interest. Why not take the use of beads one step further and use them as a “thread” to form a beautiful stitch!
The Charlie Harper canvas pictured lends itself to a multitude of creative stitches, incorporating the bead as a major element and thread option.
A three-layered stitch was selected for the massive background, starting with a simple darning stitch using a #12 Kreinik thread; followed by a cross stitch using a stranded silk thread. The final step involved the strategic placement of beads over the entire background, adding a novel interest and sparkle to the canvas.
The leaves were stitched using only green bugle beads and round beads.
Note that the top part of the bird’s body has been beaded. And for that touch of embellishment, the green hopper has two whopping big bead eyes!
Couldn’t stop there…the tree branch has been enhanced with various shaped black beads. Come into the shop or to class and get some ideas on how to incorporate beading into your stitches.

Multi-Layered Stitches for Needlepoint by Gone Stitching, a guide with stitch and thread selections for each pumpkin, canvas, and threads to complete. The complete set of three is available for special package pricing of $400. Each pumpkin is also available as a separate kit. Pepperberry Designs Easter Basket Club These cute and charming pals will charm your family and friends and bring a smile to your Easter Holiday! The set includes 10 canvases plus exclusive stitch guides, and thread kits to complete. The first kit (the charming Bunny in a Basket) has just shipped. However we will happily rush your order so you can catch up. The basket is available separately with a stitch guide by Laurie Walden.

Sip and Stitch – every Tuesday, 7:00 to 9:00 pm - an informal canvas embellishment class, with wine. Thursdays with Karen - every Thursday, 1:00 to 4:00 pm - Whether you are a beginner or advanced needlepointer, you'll enjoy Karen's creative interpretations and thread choices and stitches. Stitch In - Our next monthly Stitch In will be Saturday, August 20, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm. No instruction or fees – just a fun time with other great stitchers. Share your ideas and learn from others. Refreshments are provided.
