FIREFIGHTER OF THE YEAR Steve Miller ANNUAL AWARDS BANQUET

Jared, Steve and Lucy Miller following the banquet.

Steve Miller was chosen by his fellow Firefighters and Officers as the 2009 Firefighter of the Year. This honor was well deserved. Steve has served the department exceptionally since joining a couple of years ago. Steve and his family has endured some real challenges since joining the department with the passing of his father; managing a difficult estate and the illness of his wife. Ask Steve and he will tell you that his faith allows him to move forward and meet each of these challenges. You would be hard pressed to find a finer

person devoted to his family and his Christian faith. Squad A clinched the honors as the Squad of the Year. Led by Lt. Kelly Roberts, Travis Olbert, Bob Stalcup Jr., Clinton York, Jesse Asbe, Janie McCoy, and Jared Miller received a plaque and Rolex watches (aka Timex) Robert Slaugh received the coveted Johnny Gage Award for removing 20 feet of gutter from Bloomfield Nursing (who knew that they put gutter on the eave of a building or the truck was that wide). The department honored the Auxiliary as well for all the time and effort provided to the department and community. Beck and Ayme of course were thanked for all they do for all of us.

Also recognized was Judge Ed Wood for his devotion to the city and community having served on the school board, city council, San Juan College board and fourteen years as municipal judge.
