What a great beginning in God’s Word last Sunday as we are journeying toward “Reclaiming Our Spiritual Self”. In life, as followers of Christ, we must examine our motives so we can set our priorities on the correct path. Jesus certainly was questioning His listeners’ motives while guiding them at the same time in a way that would help them reclaim their spiritual self. The question becomes ‘why is this so important, and are there steps to help us get there?’ In Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount, He addresses many areas that help us reclaim our spiritual self, and I have chosen a select few. Last week we addressed how He encouraged His listeners to give as God had given to them and to pray with a pure heart. Jesus knew this was important and desired the best for His listeners. So if Jesus thinks these areas and others are important, do we agree with Him? Are we willing to take Jesus for His Word? What do we do when we have an important decision to make; how do we approach it? I look forward to exploring the depths of “Reclaiming Your Spiritual Self – Part 2” this Sunday. Come with your spiritual shovel as we dig down deep into its importance and explore the steps to get us there. I pray illumination and enrichment for all of us on this journey. May we be like a town on a hill that cannot be hidden as we glorify God, not ourselves! Blessings. (Matthew 6:16-21, Psalm 51:1-13) Yours In Christ, Rick

Also, copies of her devotional guide “Prayer: The Christian’s Anchor and Lifeline” are available in the prayer room off the front vestibule if you would like to pick up a copy.
“When God instructs us to pray, He is inviting us to be involved in His work and mission in the world. Could it be that our lack of prayer actually keeps some of His will from being done?”
