“A Foot in the Door!” John 6:16-25

1. John was an eyewitness to it all. He saw it. He heard it. He experienced it. 2. John’s journey with Jesus was amazing. a. Transfiguration b. Last Supper c. Crucifixion d. Resurrection e. Pentecost 3. John couldn’t keep silent.

d. Maybe it is true 10. I believe it is true—the Divine Foot has pushed into the door of our natural world. 11. We can no longer keep God out of our world! It shatters our natural world confinement with supernatural reality. 12. If it is…there truly is a Sovereign God who can change expected outcomes with supernatural interventions. 13. In John’s world, “nothing is impossible with God!” 14. Jesus isn’t the ultimate superhero, “He is the Christ,

the Son of God”. 4. Why did he write this gospel? “…that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and believing you may have life in His name.” John 20:31 5. His options were many. “There are many other things that Jesus did, which if they were written in detail I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books which were written.” John 21:25 6. So why select this incident out of the library of memories to tell us about?

15. John is relentless…he keeps trying to force the door open in our lives so he can get the Divine Foot in. 16. How we react is often determined by where we are. a. Not spiritually alive b. Alive, but not living c. Both alive and living 17. “Logic is the foundation of knowledge, but miracles are the foundation of faith.” – Calvin Miller

7. It is so astounding--it is almost unbelievable. For some, it is unbelievable!

18. There is so much more here than wind, waves, water, and walking. This isn’t about the weather--it is about the Christ!

8. This kind of Scripture lesson is great for our doubts.

19. Jesus wants to get His Divine Foot into the door of your life.

9. I understand doubts. a. Maybe it is a myth b. Maybe it is an exaggeration c. Maybe it is deception
