www.vittoria.islington.sch.uk World Book Day 2016 Thanks for celebrating World Book Day by helping your children to come to school as their favourite characters from literacy. We had many wonderful costumes and characters including Harry Potter, Oompa Loompahs, the Cat in the Hat (and Thing One and Thing Two), Mary Poppins, The BFG, Cinderella etc ……. The money raised from donations will go towards the charity Book Aid to buy books for children in Africa. We will let you know the amount collected soon.
We are busy planning Science Week which begins Monday 14th March. Watch out for letters detailing events and workshops for all things space related! Vittoria PTA have arranged for a Scholastic Book Fair to come to school for the week beginning Monday 21st March. A wide range of books for all age ranges in the school will be available. Parents and children will be able to come and see what books are available and to buy them to take home. A proportion of the book sales will go towards school PTA funds. Thank you to everyone who made donations to year 3 and 4’s sponsored swim at the Cally Pool last Wednesday. Both Jim and Ms Wilson joined in with the event and staff made contributions to support them. The money raised went to the Cally Pool’s collection raising funds for Sports Relief.
Vittoria will be having our own Sports Relief event on 22nd March. More news on this to follow. Please remember to bring us your Sainsbury’s Active Kids vouchers that we are collecting once again this year.
Thanks to all the parents who came and shared their food with us on 9th February (see above). We had a wonderful International evening feast with foods to celebrate all of our cultures from around the world. After School Club children performed the Chinese Dragon dance, we had pancakes for Shrove Tuesday and Anne Renton (parent) talked about the research she and some other parents had done about the school’s rich and diverse history using our archive materials.
