Notes:
Bedford targeted by HUD The Department of Housing and Urban Development has targeted Bedford as part of a “grand experiment” by which the federal government takes over control of local zoning laws to allow multifamily housing developments anywhere in town. According to HUD, even ½- or ¼-acre zoning is considered “potentially discriminatory” and subject to larger units forced upon those neighborhoods. If HUD wins, the federal intrusion and overdevelopment that follows will create a negative impact on our taxes, schools, open space and neighborhoods.
In Bedford’s fight to defend our neighborhoods from HUD’s overreach, only one candidate for County Legislature will stand up for us –
FRANCIS CORCORAN FRANCIS CORCORAN STANDS WITH US
KAREN SCHLEIMER IS WRONG ON HUD
H As a Bedford Town Councilman since 2003, Francis has fought against HUD’s overreach into our local zoning and planning codes that has been forced on communities like Bedford.
8 As a member of the Mt. Kisco Village Board, Schleimer has not dealt with the HUD issue as the village is not one of the Westchester communities targeted by this radical scheme.
H Francis joins County Executive Rob Astorino in his unwavering support of our local communities, homeowners and taxpayers by standing up to HUD and challenging their targeting of Westchester County.
8 Schleimer is supported by the members of the County Board of Legislators who have opposed the County Executive by siding with HUD against our local communities.
H Francis understands that this issue is more than just a legal battle, but one that defends the principle of home-rule and local control over the character of our communities.
8 According to the Mt. Kisco Daily Voice, she “touted her legal work involving subsidized housing” as preparing her to deal with the HUD issue, suggesting that this is merely a legal matter that has already been decided, which is not true.
