Imminent Danger!

• 5.5 million crashes/year in the U.S. –OR 1 Death Every 15 Minutes –OR 88 Deaths Every Day • 81% of Crashes Result from Human Error • Struck-By fatalities and injuries are rising • Getting Worse, not Better 2

Quick Facts The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) National Center for Statistics and Analysis (NCSA) reports that thirty-five States showed an increase in traffic fatalities between 2014 and 2015. They accounted for an additional 2,612 fatalities from 2014 to 2015. Ten percent of fatal crashes, 15 percent of injury crashes, and 14 percent of all police-reported motor vehicle traffic crashes in 2015 were reported as distraction-affected crashes. This is bad news for the responder community as distracted driving is now considered the new drunk driving and a serious threat to responder and motorist safety and why the training is so important! 3
