Dual Sport Contract Agreement REQUEST TO PARTICIPATE IN CONCURRENT VARSITY SPORTS *Dual sport is defined as an athlete participating in two sports in the same season.
Any athlete electing to do two sports in the same season agrees to: 1. The athlete must communicate with both coaches on a daily basis. 2. The athlete must carry a minimum GPA of 2.8 to participate in both sports as verified by the high school guidance counselor in the grading period prior to the start of the season, and continued throughout the season. 3. Student Athlete must prepare a written statement detailing their Dual Sport request (attached). Guidelines: 1. In game/meet conflicts the preferred sport takes precedence. 2. In the event there are two events on a single day, the student-athlete may only participate in the primary sport event. There will be no traveling and participation from one contest to another on the same day. 3. A schedule for both sports must be supplied with the contract with exact times and dates of practices. 4. The athlete may not quit the preferred sport after the declaration and subsequently switch to the other sport. This will result in dismissal from both teams. 5. If the athlete should experience academic problems, the secondary sport should be dropped immediately. 6. Conference/Tournament meets and/or games may take precedence over the declared sport if there is mutual consent by both coaches ahead of time. 7. The athletic department reserves the right to terminate the Dual Sport Agreement at any time. 8. This contract & paperwork must be completed and approved by the Athletic Director a minimum of one week before the first practice for both teams. 9. Please remember this is a privilege, not a right.
When conflicting practices and contests arise, it is understood by all parties involved that, the primary sport will take priority over the secondary sport. This includes regular season and post season events.
