PREPARING FABRICS

Wash, dry, and press fabrics. Cut off selvages and then tear or cut fabrics into 1" (2.5 cm) wide strips along the longest direction of fabric. For quick results, a rotary cutter and mat may be used to cut several layers of fabric at one time. Note: When the color varies on the right and wrong sides of a fabric, fold the fabric strip in half as you crochet so the preferred color will show. If the fabric is the same color intensity on both sides, folding is unnecessary.
