FOCUS Back2School Chess Tournament Columbus, Georgia SATURDAY, August 19, 2017 10:00AM – 1:30PM Single Players are welcome 4-Player Teams will receive 10% Discount Chess is a game of pressure, FOCUS, and maximizing one's brain power. This tournament will FOCUS on raising awareness and supporting families dealing with pediatric cancer. Every year, 2500 kids lose their lives from some form of pediatric cancer. A portion of ALL registration fees will be donated to a local non-profit called Keris Kares, Inc. (keriskares.org) which has already raised $200,000 over the last three years for families struggling with pediatric cancer. Let’s FOCUS on playing chess and fighting pediatric cancer TOGETHER!

This tournament is not rated by U.S. Chess Federation (USCF) and does not require USCF membership. CHECK-IN: 10:00AM. First game pairings by 10:30. Tournament Rules to Remember: •
Unrated Fast-Pairings: means no set number of rounds. Players will be paired as soon and as often as there is an appropriate opponent available. All players will play a minimum of 4 games but some may play 8 or more games.

Touch/Move and Touch Capture: If you touch a piece, that’s the piece you must move. If you touch an opponent’s piece, then you must capture it if it is a legal move.
•
No chess clocks or timers will be used, but players must make reasonable progress to complete a game or a timer may be put on the game.
•
Chess notation is suggested, but not required. If writing down moves is slowing the game, the player will be asked to stop.
•
