FOR FRENCH IMMERSION There are 2 versions of 24 three-piece puzzles. All the words are two-letter words. Version 1: pages 3-8 Version 2: pages 9-14 I’ve kept the design of the cards very simple and clean so that the student can focus on the letters and the words. They were created for sight recognition of letters and words and that’s why there are no pictures. You can print them on white card stock paper, but they also look great on colored paper.
Here are two ways to use the puzzles:
1) set the puzzles up as independent centers. Print, laminate, and cut the puzzles. Let kids solve the puzzles. There are two versions for differentiation. 2) use the puzzles as a get-up-and-movearound activity. Print, laminate, and cut the puzzles (version 2). Place the word pieces on a table or hide them around the room. Give one letter piece to each student and tell them not to show other kids yet. When you say “Go!”, they have to find their pairs (the letters that form one word) AND find the complete word on the table/hidden around the room. When they find their partners and the word, they have to sit down together and wait for everyone to finish. When they are all sitting down, ask each pair to read the letters and the word they have. You can time how long it took the class to finish the activity and challenge them to beat their record time by playing the game again on a different day.
